Assessment of the Contribution of Different Particulate Matter Sources on Pollution in Sofia City

The habitants of Sofia, the capital city Bulgaria, are unfortunately exposed to high levels particulate matter (PM), despite a lot efforts made by government and municipality in recent decades. A resolution model using Atmospheric Dispersion Modeling System (ADMS)-Urban was carried out for one year (2014) with elevated PM concentration Sofia region measured during winter. Four main emission sources (point industrial, domestic heating, roads, unorganized transport) were taken into account this study. This works intends evaluate impacts different on air pollution quality life city. Although type modeling only accounts local sources, has some deficiency, it can be very useful tool estimating contribution each source field, allows simulating scenarios future reduction that help authorities decision making.
